INDUSTRIAL APPLICATIONS
Solar thermal technologies cover a wide range of temperatures and applications in industrial processes: heating or preheating water, air or other fluids. For example, in the agro-food industry these technologies are particularly suitable for washing, cooking, drying, preheating boiler make-up water or even for pasteurization processes.
If the production cycle of the plant includes daily or weekly pauses or processes carried out at nighttime, it is also possible to store the surplus solar heat, and keep it for later use.
TECHNOLOGIES
Solar thermal technologies convert solar radiation into heat. Used for many years in district heating, they are particularly suitable for large scale industrial applications. They fall into several categories, and can cover a wide range of temperatures. Sunti selects the best technologies according to the targeted processes and characteristics of each industrial facility.
Flat plate collectors
Flat plate collectors are particularly efficient for processes with operating temperatures below 100 ° C. This robust technology covers a large range of industrial needs: hot water production, temperature maintenance, preheating of water for steam production, and heating or preheating of air or any other fluid.
In terms of solar yield, flat plate collectors generate five times more kWh than photovoltaic on an equivalent surface. With a lifespan of more than 30 years and a high land-use efficiency, solar thermal significantly contributes to a more renewable industrial energy mix and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
Concentrating solar thermal
These technologies use mirrors that concentrate solar radiation, allowing to generate steam or make a fluid reach a high temperature. Concentrating technologies are particularly relevant in geographic regions with high levels of direct solar radiation.
